ATTENTION DEFICIT HYPERACTIVE DISORDER (ADHD) ASSESSMENTS
Welcome to NEST CAMHS, a trusted place for in-depth ADHD assessments for children and young people. We are committed to providing comprehensive ADHD assessments for young people struggling with inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity as well as offering support to families struggling with childhood ADHD.
Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a common childhood behavioural disorder that not only impacts academic performance but affects other areas of a child's life. It is challenging to raise a child with ADHD and can impact the overall family functioning and parental mental health. Our ADHD assessment process entailed a detailed evaluation of ADHD symptoms from various facets of a child's life and an understanding of any associated comorbidities.
ADHD assessment process ensures involving parents at every step and giving them comprehensive information about the child/ young person's difficulties alongside treatment options and management.
Led by a Consultant Psychiatrist, this process follows the same diagnostic assessment as the NHS. At our clinic, we offer a comprehensive and personalised assessment process for children undergoing ADHD evaluation and tailored treatment recommendations.
Here's an outline of our assessment process:
1. Initial Assessment with a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
Our process begins with an initial assessment led by Dr Kaushal. This session provides an opportunity for you and your child to share concerns and experiences, while also establishing a rapport. This phase also incorporates a mental health screening.
2. Developmental History with a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
The developmental history phase involves a detailed exploration led by Dr Kaushal. By delving into your child's developmental journey, we attain a holistic perspective that informs the evaluation.
3. Formal ADHD Screening Questionnaires and School Reports
Following the initial assessment, formal ADHD screening questionnaires and the collection of school reports takes place. Results are disseminated to appropriate professionals who play a role in your child's evaluation.
This step enhances the scope of information gathered to aid in the assessment process.
4. Diagnostic Feedback Session with a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist
After the assessment process, you will be invited to a final feedback session. During this session, you will receive an in-depth report summarising findings and diagnostic outcomes. Our child and adolescent psychiatrist will discuss the results with you, addressing any queries or concerns, and offering tailored treatment recommendations that align with your child's unique requirements.
When we diagnose a patient after a private assessment for ADHD, we will provide a detailed report and advise the family on the next steps and treatment options available to them
