AUTISM ASSESSMENT
AUTISM ASSESSMENT
NEST CAMHS provides a detailed initial assessment of Autism for children and young people. The aim is to identify autistic traits in young people and associate comorbidities and offer guidance to parents and young people for further assessment and treatment.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a challenging disorder that often gets missed in the early stages of development. Since the impact of ASD in a child's life is multifaceted and symptoms are too variable, NEST CAMHS aims at providing proper in-depth consultations for Autism assessment.
NEST CAMHS is still in initial building stage for the ASD assessment pathway, hence we offer initial online consultation and signpost to colleagues offering standardised assessment.
ASD assessment process ensures involving parents at every step and giving them comprehensive information about the child/ young person's difficulties alongside treatment options and management.
1. Initial Evaluation
Our journey begins with an initial evaluation, conducted by Dr Kaushal . During this session, you and your child will have the opportunity to discuss concerns and experiences and establish a comfortable rapport.
This phase also includes a preliminary screening to assess your child's developmental and behavioral patterns.
2. Signposting to independent Psychology colleagues for Neurodevelopmental Profiling - ADI-R and gold standard ADOS-2 assessment.
(at present, this is not part of NEST CAMHS package)
3. Child-Centred Assessment
Our assessment approach is holistic, involving various professionals with expertise in child development. During the child-centered assessment, your child's behaviour, interactions, and communication are observed through age-appropriate activities and structured observations. This phase is carried out by our specialised clinical team focused on child development.
4. Diagnostic Review
After completing the assessment, the final appointment includes a feedback session. You will receive a comprehensive report summarising the findings and diagnostic insights. In a subsequent meeting, our child psychiatrist will discuss the results with you, address any inquiries you might have, and offer personalised intervention recommendations tailored to your child's unique needs.
